Layed back gaming weekend

With this week trying to keep on midshift schedule, the weekend was spent doing a good amount of gaming and really learning more about a current addiction. Not to add me and Jen had two weddings to film an hour apart, while finding out our batteries in the keyboards went to shit so we became uber dorks trying to figure out what to do, I would have never thought $100 bucks would of been in the hands of a few double A batteries. Oh and hey caught up with Josh a couple of hours ago as he called the Skype randomly. Tinker is sucking as normal being a crew chief and he's going into the guard as an air EMT basically. There no way I could do that, one dealing with the fact that someones life is in my hands, and two , the gross factor, cause you know everyone who needs a plane to pick em up is missing something critical - Like ... 1/2 your head?

Alright I'll try and be straight and blunt with this new addiction, cause it takes a lot to explain.
Throw away your TOS rules, your "grieving", and your "omg that's not fair" comments, because this game is a point blank shot to the face. Throw away that World of Warcraft quest that has you delivering 10 apples to farmer lazy ass who cant deliver them himself. You'll be thinking out every move you conduct in this game, weather your stealing billions from your corporation (guild) in a well thought out attack, spying on others, or running around killing people that are just trying to mine or deliver a box worth millions (and you steal it of course once they're dead) all for the sake cause your bored. Eve Online will be keeping you on your toes, or dieing constantly because your not paying attention, it could also just leave your ass smeared across the universe cause you decided to take a poop on autopilot while hitting a Stargate. Not to add Eve has some of the highest death penalty's known to any MMOG, and will leave you placing public bounty's on peoples heads in a fit of rage while cusing sweet nothings in your corporations Ventrillo channel.

I think that was pretty clear cut. Now what do I love about this game? that in no way is it easy, and how it pays to be an experienced RPGer. With skills you continue training in even while offline (no more bull shit 4 hour instance or grinding for good gear) you don't have to play hours a day to "level", instead you train in hundreds of skills to better yourself. Sure you can play it safe and "grind" such as mining and cashing in -- But why do that when you can just run from mine to mine, killing every player in your way, and stealing them from everything they have? OR get them down to 10% life before they die, then message them and demand a ransom for their life, and if they don't pay, I think its obvious...

Now that's just the beginning, one other aspect I enjoy the hell out, is you can be a n00b coming straight out of the gate-- hop into some dangerous territory, see a pirate take down a battle cruiser (aka a big ass ship) mind you this battle cruiser is another player, so who knows what's aboard. Ill keep it as this--I looted a ship that someone shot down and ran off, with 13 cargo stealing trips I had everything that was aboard it and gear I cant even use for a couple of months until I train for it, let alone a ship big enough to mount the "duel lazer double big ass pwning pew pew gun" I like to call it.

This is one of the reasons why I stopped playing WoW, I got to 70, played it for a month, and wasn't enjoying how repetitive it was. How you run something or do something a million times just to get gear that was worth a damn. Yes of course I did it and was 1337 in PvP, but to keep getting better shit it requires you to play that game hours upon hours a day farming/running instances constantly. No thank you! you cant make me run that 4 hour instance!! I wont do it!! screw you Blizzard and all your blood money!!!

So about those death penalty's, they can be just a dink in your wallet or a major set back. Well provided you bought insurance for your ship, and since you cant just rez at the grave yard with baby scratches in your armor, you better make a clone of yourself and not bitch, cause when your dead, your freacken toast buddy. A clone also insures that you don't loose any skill points, otherwise it could be a crap full of offline training hours gone to waste. Best part is, that your not the only one in the boat, its just as major of a set back for everyone else. In the end though, putting a large bounty on your killers head always lets you know that at some point they will be killed for their bounty and be standing out in the middle of a crowd with a nice little skull next to their name.

Up until the last year Eve Online has broken the most records for having the largest amount of users online at one time, of course with WoW user friendly dummy proof simplicity of a game, the mass of n00b RPGers have flocked towards the game that all their other friends play. Bollix to that my friend!! I want to play the game where you either fight back or die while your location is being over run. Much like how the new Warhammer MMO will be, and you can bet your ass ill be hitting the log-in screen at day once.... since I haven't been picked for closed beta yet =\ Also just how Warhammer will be, Eve has collision, as in if your a tank, the enemy will have to plow through you like a tank should.

Happy Gaming!!

The long overdue Second Life gaming rant....

Considering im working midshift, that means that today is Friday for me! As for the weekend goes I know Sunday were hopeing to one of England's largest markets they hold. Which here, markets are the place to be, every town has one on a particular day of the week. Then on Saturday we have a wedding, and as for the rest of the week not much planned right now. We've been looking for a good 3 day weekend to hit up London or something, were just really not feeling the busy city and how confusing the first time being there will be, so we've been in no rush.

I know before I left the states I was all ready to get started on a new series for NSS which was an action/comedy. Hell we even started filming and had the main character all ready in scenes (not to add 20gigs of footage on the hard drive), and that was until I got orders to the UK. Well one of my many dreams have come true which is traveling overseas, and because of it the series I've been wanting to start for so long is now on hold. I was having a conversation with a buddy at work (also an avid gamer) talking about how we go in and out of different games and really cant stick with just one forever until it dies like most people seem they have to (strictly MMO's). I think that's what Second Life has become to me, its been over 2 years now of me playing it (almost 3), which is one of the longest running games i've played (of course having on and off moments). Now its come to the point knowing everything about it and you have to find your own drive that makes you want to keep playing. Which has always been a problem for people in SL because there is no leveling or goals but your personal ones. Its a game that-- well as Jen says "A glorified chat room" which now you have players joining with names like "Angel34" or "Max power3821" when before everyone had a normal or fun name.. likeee "Bebop Vox" =D. c'mon!! This isn't the lesbian chat room on AOL or something guys!!! people from all around the world are joining just to meet others and "cyber" -- and if you don't know what that is ill even post a Wiki link for ya "Cyber" lol.

Its just sad to see where this game has gone at this point, when making this game they had no idea about the human element involved. Yea sure you still have creative people making neato shit, but now we have mindless company's like DELL or AOL who pay players like me and Jen to build them a "sim", which no one in game will ever go to because nothing is ever going on in the sim. Unless your giving away free money, holding a concert in which someone is playing live, or have a casino - will people then show up.

What can I say, the game was fun, and at times still is. But its so behind the times and with such a great idea gone to waste. Myself I'm debating if its even worth the trouble anymore, I should just go buy a PS3, get "home" and make a well made video in there. Cause yes in the end its always going to be easier to produce a video in a game (hell that's why I started) but if the game has graphic restrictions and flaws you really cant fix, than will you be happy with the product in the end even though it doesn't look as it did in your head?

Here I was just trying to focus on the gaming fact it self, if you've played the game you all ready know how the community is, how political it can be just like any game, and how so many people will hide behind their avatar. Its not like I need to go into the definition of each and every social belief that's in SL like sexiest Goreans or people who swear by the book they're a real life furry and own a furry costume in. Not to add just about every freak or drama starter you can find is in this game. Linden Labs opened up a real life in a video game, its not like you didn't know what was going to happen, just look out your window. A world with out laws where you can copy write, make thousands and not report it on your taxes (cause most are from other country's and no way to know your SSN or IP cause you can change it every 2 seconds).

Easy as that =) you cant expect to play a game until it doesn't exist anymore, cause other games and projects coming out which learned from others mistakes and will be 100 times better. Mark my words now, ill even BOLD it so i can find it years or months later. I will put money on that Second Life gets bought out or someone makes a game just like it, and learning from everything they messed up on. So yes when that comes out, your damn right ill be right there.

Who doesnt love a good gaming post!!... yeaa were dorks

Me and Jen are HUGE gaming junkies. And I absolotly love trying out the new games and seeing where MMOG are headed both content wise and graphics, not to add it gives me a nice upper hand when bashing other games that others worship. Heres something im probably going to start doing on my blog, and thats reviewing MMORPG's

Sword of the New World The Vox Rating: 6
Rico a good friend of mine brought this game to my attenction this week. It was released at the beginning of July and we hit it up about the 15th. With out question this is the most detailed online game I have yet to ever play other than "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" which is full of realistic graphics for the detailed junkie in all of us.
Apart from the graphics alone drawing you in, you can get pretty addicted to it just for that. HOWEVER -- as with most MMO's they all have a weakness they failed to put just as much work into.
Now they do have an awesome multi-charactor controls while playing, allowing you to run around with up to 3 charactors at once (FFX style). However where they failed was in the RPG aspect. It goes back to the old school point and click for movement, which theres nothing wrong with, however when you do that they automaticly mow down everything in their way by default. Its basicly become a midless game where you run around-sit back and relax while you see the cool effects do their thing. Dont get me wrong for the first 2 hours the game is pretty fun once you get past the tutorials and you feel invincable, not to add when you die you just have to wait 40 seconds and you automaticlly rez where you died at with out penalty. Hence why you'll see just about 1/2 the players in an instance AFK cause there is no timeout, and once an enemy rezes, the default attack and killing begins (repeat).
In the end, you really cant beat it because the games fun up to Level 20 even though they have 100 levels, and what do you know- the free trial lets you goto a level 20 cap with unlimited hours to play. Oh and of course the HD half naked 17th centry chicks, and the wide variety of attire. So enjoy for whatever reason you deside to start this game, its one of those games you can enjoy for a good couple of hours :)

Today is pirate day!! infact, everyday is from today on!!

WARNING!!! HUGE gamer talk & dork alert

So im not completely addicted to Eve Online whenever im on the computer now. Unlike WOW this is a true MMORPG-RTS, where you have to actually think to play well. Unlike wow "Hey lets deliver 10 apples to farmer john!" oh and if you don't know where the next quest is you cant miss the retard question mark over every quest givers head. I played to 70 and many instances, only then did I realize why the mass public likes it, cause its so simple 8 year olds play it, and yes the guys kids at work do play it.

Anyways, As a n00b flying in my ship that looks like its welded together by space rubbish - another player completely shot up another just before entering a Stargate. As the Pirate who did the killing ran off, I ran in and looted over 90 items. Many of which are rare and I cant use for a long time cause I still need to raise my skill. In the end, after talking with a friend, the total amount is well over 10 million ISK. And being a n00b on a trial account for only 7 days so far - im kicking ass. So then of course I continued to fly around and steal from containers ppl have shot into space and the wreckage of those who blew up before their new clone could. yaRrrr!!! Walk the plank!!

So yea if you've been playing Eve Online recently and some n00b stole your hard earned items. His name is Bebop Vox, feel free to add a bounty on my head =)

Wow talk about me needing to update!!!
Well heres the basics - I'm an uncle now :D how weird is that? lol, we got a kitty, and a hole buncha furniture, got a HD 42 inch TV, and just finished a wedding edit.

See making writing it like that makes it a LOT easier cause theres entirely way to much to write, thats why you cant slack on blogging cause then you make a crappy post like this thats is very general. Its all ready about 10:25PM here, so its 4:25PM in the states. Man thats also so weird lol. Another odd thing to realize is that I wont even see my brothers kids until its about 3 since im currently in Until 2011 and it cost over 1k a round trip to the states about.

Not to add me and Jen and a pretty dorky weekend of game testing. I'll have to talk about it tomorrow and start posting pictures of our retarded cat that chases its tail.

Later Days!

Busy busy busy!!

Just got done volunteering for the 4th of July set up at Feltwell, where later tonight they have the only and largest display of fireworks in England. Weird the fact that we come and celebrate kicking them out of a country they started, AND party in their country about it...

Were headed out in a bit to look for a kitty we've been talking about getting for a long time, looking around are rescuing one in the area. Other than that getting back into the online groove. But man Ive gotten Re-addicted to an old video game called X-com apocalypse. Its a turn based RPG for the computer I found online. Want to beat it so i can scratch it off my gaming list I guess and can stop being addicted to it lol.

Anyways Cheers!

Wow only a month in England so far!

Its only been a month in England and were all ready loving every second of it, even my drive to work kicks ass, and every day still trying to realize that I'm actually in England. Meanwhile back home my brother and his wife will be having their baby on Friday the 13th in July, just 3 days shy of my birthday and their anniversary. Funny how theres so many days in the year, yet my brother gets married on my birthday, and now their kid is almost also born on my birthday lol. Hell by the time I end up going back home the kid will be 3 or 4 years old.

So this weekend we saw Stonehenge, and I must say it does kick ass. First thing out of my mouth was "my god! its a giant windows desktop!". Sept the fact it was raining pretty good and we didn't bring anything for it lol. SO we ended up with some fun pictures and got a kick out of it, still have to upload it to flicker. Not to add we also went to Salisbury where they have the oldest and most well known cathedral in the world, over 750 years old. And it was HUGE, crazy to think its that old and well made with detail. So beautiful though.

Update on today, Jen got a wisdom tooth out today so I'm babying her, and got the day off cause FMO was sending us more goodies but they never came. OH! AND we started filming the intro for our new comedy/action series, im spending so much time on making just one scene kick ass its nuts. Cant wait to just get the intro done lol. Still trying to catch up with everything after our move and settling in, completely forgot to even update the blog =D

Cheers!

Whats This? The Government Taxes me to Fart?

Good thing im in the military and they take care of all the taxes. you get taxed just for even having a TV in your house, 150Pounds to be exact (300USD), and thats a YEAR lol. Than you have road tax, and thats about 400Pounds, (800USD a year) than a yearly inspection called MOT 100Pounds (200USD) not to add the normal car selling/buying tax, and house taxes. No wonder England is 5 years behind, cause they cant afford what they currently have. Ordered our internet package today, so its going to take about a week in the mail, and we/NSS will be up and running. However we wont be able to film that wedding =\ I blame that on me jinxing it and the fact of how behind England is cause they don't even have cable modems yet, either way even with DSL it shouldn't mess up our FPS while filming.

I realized this also while I was checking out SC2, that GTA 4 comes out one month before it. Oh and I dunno Halo 2 perhaps? yeaa good times. Even though I saw the pretty cool game play video and new toys they have, im still not feeling SC2 and actually don't think I'll give into it, same goes for Halo 2 though. Its just as the creators said during an interview "theres really no reason for us to put this on 360, cause theres nothing were doing that we couldn't in Halo 2, same goes for graphics. Either way both are not far off to the old one, and im not seeing the point.
Well take care guys, im off to go act like a retard with Jen as usual. =D

Cheer!

So close, I can feel the warmth of the pizza

We picked up our computers and we just need to sign the paper work to finish moving in, YaY! So now that were able to drive all over Europe, now its just time to learn how to use all the crazy roads. Seriously talk about close calls with every car that passes you. You are either going to get 1 inch of the oncoming car right of you, or hit the big tree and ditches left of you, but which one!

Gonna start loading up pictures onto Flicker and see if I can get em on here. I have a feeling we'll be taking pictures of everything we see and do, so we might need a premium account, and if everything continues to go as we hope, we'll have our computers up by this Friday, and be filming a wedding that was planned for this Sat. Now talk about close, someone planning a wedding filming, while our ass's are leaving country, getting a house/car/ settled into the UK. And STILL managed to somehow film this wedding lol. So far at least, probably jinxing it =) cant WAIT to start all the fun videos we have in mind!

Cheers!

This isn't Office Space! WHY didn't I get the memo!?!

October 19th 2007 will be a day set in the record books. Cause nothing other than GTA4 is coming out! Recently being hooked on San Andreas for 2 days, I recalled hearing about this and had to check it out. This is of course after me and Jen were arguing that Bruce Willis has SO come out with a good movie in the last 15 years besides the last Die Hard. C'mon the 5th Element! And he did that voice for the rodent in "Over the Hedge" pft yea he's done.. stuff! Now if Rockstar can come out with a game like GTA which they've done MASSIVE improvements for.. Why cant blizzard spend a chunk of their blood money on making Starcraft 2 not look like monkey poop and the last Starcraft they made almost 10 years ago now. Everything looks exactly the same, and still the only bad ass thing about it is going to be the cinematic movies of the game. Which can be found right here =) lol Just sad, especially after throwing away the "Ghost" first person shooter project, and falling back on what they know will make money anyways. Like making Billions on the worlds largest MMORPG isn't enough.
Blah you make me sick Blizzard!!

BTW if anyone wants to buy a lv70 Hunter on the Steemwheedle Cartel server just give me a ring =) hah

Cheers!

Walk it off stunt man!!

I'm not in the film business, I'm creating films and telling stories because its what I enjoy, and thats why I started it and went to school for it. When I do make a film for money, its with my full creative license.

Talk about a cold point blank shot to the face tonight. Theres a buddy of mine I met when he was a n00b in SL, he had talent and questions which I would answer now and then. Well down the road, I sparked an idea that he wanted to develop on. So he did, and made a little money out of it. Once he got that realization of the fact that a video game can bring you money, the spark of greed kicked in. He would tell me he needed help with one thing, but the real fact is he was using me for my name/background. So pretty much ive been betrayed, not to add he was charging insane amounts of money for things he couldn't do. But was hoping to buy the NSS name and hire us to help him do it. In addition add other artists we know very well, to do his work.

I kinda realized that today, i would love NSS to be a famious name like Red vs Blue, that means doing what you want and for fun, which others just happen to enjoy the hell out of. I don't sell out for money in order to live, I raise money to improve the ideas I have just make them possible. Example is that Ive bought my custom built 4k dollar computer, a professional recording mic, mixing board, and paid 3 years so far on the NSS website, all with money I made from film and editing, with money left over for other equipment. With out doing all that work to raise money for gear, I wouldn't be able to film a full Sim with zero lag, or run the handfuls of programs I do in order to process green screen work faster and more covenant's. To do videos like the "Noob Be Gone" series which we've gotten sooo much positive feedback and thank yous. Or fun videos like the Vonage or MoJo DoJo video.

Its good to finally really know where I stand, even though Ive been doing it all along but never realized it. Guess I just needed to see someone who was all about greed and uses their friends to know exactly what I didn't want.
Off to eat dinner =) the pubs in England have amazing home cooked food and are nothing like bars in the states.

Cheers!

You! Fellow Cheese Man!! DANCE!!

The word "Benandering" is one I made up a buncha years ago, its along the lines of "Ranting" and "Sporadic Jibba jabba". Once day this word will be heard around the world and in the dictionary, maybe even have a follower or 2 with a sacrifice from time to time.

Only a few days now until victory will rain within our computers of doom. We have a lot of videos now under our belt to develop and cannot wait to start em. Including the one which we've been wanting to do since day one. Just to add, it shall be so overwhelmingly awesome, some just may implode watching it.

Cheers!

Cafe WiFi Suckage

Why would anyone wanna block YouTube, I cant even go and check out comments on us =(

Theres some cool SL stuff to update on. Theres an Italian group... Mafia if you will, wanting to dub over our Noob Be Gone series in Italian which I think is pretty cool. We also had some people wanting us to put in sub titles for the hearing impaired. Its crazy the numbers were getting now, 300 people a day check out NaturalSelectionStudios.com, and on YouTube the building Tutorial video is at like 20k views last time I checked. not to add we have almost 100 subscribers which is really cool!

Were looking to do a lot of RL videos soon. Such as one of me and Jen and our story, and some just fun comedy ones. Especially once we meet up with a lot of Europe friends of ours.

And did anyone else know that England still has Milk Men that go around from door to door? They even have new goodies like Pop and Eggs they run around with! Buncha crazys

Cheers!

Jen made me do it!!

meh I needed someone to blame for me starting a blogger. Either way its much more respected than Myspace since im not a 21 year old kid who's still reminiscing on my silly high school days.. even though I have one, doesn't mean it deserves to be maintained.

Actually I started one cause its a nice little online journal that friends can read, as I read my fellow friends, mostly over Jens shoulder. Ever since we've moved to England, theres just WAY to much to talk about. After all I've always been one for ranting, having horrid spelling and grammar, and not to add that I use the comma entirely way to much.

To keep it basic and simple right now, We live in Suffolk England on RAF Mildenhall. We just found a steal on a car with 60k miles, babied by a father who recently passed away and practically bran new and beautiful. Yea its a Chrysler Neon =P 1999 AND we just found an insainly cheap house with lots of land, indoor patio.. yea ill have to show pictures. And best thing is that base housing covers all $1250USD of rent. So its our first home, completely decorated, and in such a beautiful British town. hell if I can remember the name of it now, but will be about a week before we move in as we are still working on our UK license.

What can I say, Its just so cool that im in England finally, with the one I love, and living with out any problems. I'll probably spend every penny I make on traveling Europe, hech were all ready going on a trip to Stonehenge the 23. And theres a LOT of friends we've worked with online that were going to have to meet and all ready plan to. Not to add that were probably going to be coming out with a BUNCH of RL videos, and not so many SL ones on NaturalSelectionStudios.com. Time will tell =D

Later Days
